Local non-profit Keep Brevard Beautiful has a whole host of community involvement programs designed to build partnerships and encourage citizen activism, surrounding topics like marine debris prevention, litter removal, and reduction of nutrient pollution in the Indian River Lagoon. Allison Arteaga, who manages community-based environmental programs for Keep Brevard Beautiful, will discuss these at the next Turtle Coast Sierra Club meeting on Thursday, February 23, 2017. Raised in Brevard County, Allison has served the local community as a journalist, environmental educator, and grassroots organizer since graduating from the University of Florida in 2011. Her previous work includes affiliations with The Climate Reality Project, The National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation, the Brevard Zoo Oyster Restoration program, and Eastern Surf Magazine.
